Frida Sidik is a mangrove ecologist with main interests in mangrove ecology, mangrove conservation and restoration and blue carbon. She is a senior researcher of the Research Centre for Oceanography, National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) – Indonesia. She has extensive experience in international mangrove and blue carbon research programs and collaborations, including the Asia Pacific Network for Global Change Research (Project: Influence of mangrove biodiversity on accumulation of carbon and resilience to sea level rise: a comparative assessment among disturbed, restored and intact mangrove systems), PEER Science-USAID (Project: Enhancement of research for adaptation of wetlands in Indonesia to projected impacts of sea level rise), Indonesia-French INDESO project (Project: Infrastructure development of space oceanography for fishing and coastal monitoring: ICZM Application), CNRS-IRD French (MANGCOC: MANGrove : COnnectivité par les Courants en Indonésie) and BRIN Indonesia – TIO China (Project: Coastal ecosystem health and ecological dynamic under anthropogenic pressure). As mangrove specialist, she involved in the IUCN Red List of Ecosystems (RLE) Mangroves Reports for the Sunda Shelf, the Western of Coral Triangle and the Java Transitional regions. She is also the book editor of Dynamic Sedimentary Environments of Mangrove Coasts and the member of the Editorial Team of PeerJ Open Advances in Marine Biology. With her works, she is recognised as a top female mangrove ecologist in the Indo-Pacific region. Her active role in mangrove and blue carbon science leads her to work closely with scientists and policy makers and promote science – policy interaction in national and global scale. She is the member of the Global Ocean Decade Programme for Blue Carbon (GO-BC), International Partnership for Blue Carbon (IPBC), and Global Mangrove Alliance (GMA). She was the Fellow for Climate Change of the US – ASEAN Science and Technology Fellowships and Blue Carbon Specialist for Coral Triangle Initiative (CTI) Climate Change Adaptation Working Group. Frida had BSc from the University of Sydney, Australia and majored in Ecosystem Analysis and Governance for her MSc at the University of Warwick, United Kingdom. She completed her PhD degree in Marine Science and was appointed as the Adjunct Fellow at the University of Queensland, Australia.
