Jiang Yi, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, graduated from Tsinghua University in 1977, majoring in HVAC in the Department of Building Engineering. Jiang obtained a Ph.D. in Thermal Energy Engineering in 1985, and stayed in the university as the deputy director of the air-conditioning department. He obtained 1st Beijing Excellent Young Researcher Award in 1986 and obtained 1st China Excellent Young Researcher Award in 1988, and was appointed as an associate professor of Tsinghua University. He went to the Institute of Building Research of the United Kingdom as a visiting scholar. In 1989, he and three colleagues founded Beijing Tsinghua Artificial Environment Engineering Company (later Tsinghua TongFang, listed on the stock market). In 1991, he was appointed as a professor, and was awarded the title of Returned Overseas Overseas Chinese with Outstanding Contributions by the State Education Commission and the Ministry of Labor and Human Resources. In 2005, he founded Tsinghua University’s Building Energy Conservation Research Center and served as its director. In 2020, he was awarded the title of ‘Energy Merit Person – Titan Person’. In 2022, he was awarded the title of ‘The Most Beautiful Science and Technology Worker’ in Beijing in the selection activity organized by the Communication Department of Beijing Municipal Committee and the Municipal Association for Science and Technology.
