In 2016, Ada Qin founded Abovefarm, an independent organization focusing on sustainable farm rating and sustainability communication. She travelled to 18 countries and regions around the world and visited hundreds of organic farms, aiming to search for the best practices in sustainable farming in the world and spread sustainable food, lifestyle, and thinking to the public and the value chain so as to promote the development of a “Sustainable New Economy”.

After several years of research and development, Abovefarm has accumulated profound practical and theoretical experience in the evaluation of sustainable farms, and developed the world’s first sustainable farm rating system. In 2021, Abovefarm released farm biodiversity assessment system in collaboration with the research team at Zhejiang Agriculture and Forestry University. Findings of the research were published in the academic journal titled Ecological Indicators in 2022. In addition, Abovefarm actively promotes the development of sustainable agriculture in an innovative way, such as the protection of heirloom seeds, sustainable design, and nature education. Since 2021, Abovefarm has initiated the Above Organic Geek Project, which aims to scientifically test organic food and lifestyle, and has received wide recognition in the organic industry.
